Since its establishment in April 2006 as a non-profit 501c3 educational institution, The Lewin Center has created space including salons, colloquia and forums for students, faculty, scholars, practitioners and community leaders to gather to engage in experiential learning, research, action and social discourse on social change and social justice issues.

All this is done in the humanistic interaction of dialogue, learning and sharing research, writings and practice – following the spirit and concepts of Kurt Lewin.

THE LEWIN CENTER IDENTITY STATEMENT

What is The Lewin Center?

“The Lewin Center (TLC) is an organization that builds on the fundamental principles found in social inquiry and action research. These principles are grounded in the experimentation of psychologist and social scientist, Kurt Lewin.”

“TLC advances the fields of social inquiry, social action, and social justice by providing a space for discourse, reflection, and learning on the issues, concepts and methodologies keeping these fields relevant to group, organizational, and community behavior.

“TLC engages colleagues in learning together, nurturing each other in their work and personal lives, and mentors students, thinkers, and leaders in these fields to effect sustainable, democratically driven social change.

“The Lewin Center lives these concepts and is recognized for its pragmatic and authentic expression of the values they exemplify.”
